 Conditions of Participation

  • Payments for Walks. A booking fee £6.50 per person per full day walk or £5 per person for a half day walk to be paid at the time of booking. If the walk is at capacity you may not be able to join the group.
  • Confirmation of all walk bookings will only be given by email.
  • Brecon Beacons Park Society members walk for free on walks marked with the Society logo, but must book in advance. All other walks and all events must be paid for on booking.
  • Payments for Events, Talks and Activities. These are all individually priced, please check the programme carefully and enclose the correct amount when booking. All bookable events etc are ticketed and you will receive your tickets by post.
  • Cancellation. We can accept cancellations and changes up to a week before the start of the Festival. Walkers may either opt for a different walk, subject to availability, or ask for a refund. After that period to the start of the Festival, and once it has started, we are unable to give a refund to a walker who cancels a walk. If a walk is completely cancelled by the Festival Organisers or the Walk Leader, before it has started, then walkers will be entitled to a refund or transfer to a different walk, subject to availability. Walkers who do not show up for a walk on which they are booked will not be entitled to a refund
  • Clothing. You will be expected to ensure that you are properly equipped for the grade and length of walk. For walks graded 2, 3 and 4 a waterproof jacket and trousers, walking boots, warm clothes, spare warm layer, gloves, hat, and a rucksack are essential at this time of year. Jeans are not permitted on mountain walks.
  • Bring your own food and drink. Ensure that you have an adequate supply of water (and a hot drink if you wish) and sufficient food for the length of walk – there are no cafes on the hills! Short walks generally finish before lunch or start after lunch, so you may only need to bring a snack and water.
  • Check the times of the walk you are booked on and ensure you are there at least 15 minutes before the stated time. Meal breaks will be taken at a suitable point in the walk at the discretion of the Walk Leader.
  • Follow the instructions of the Walk Leader. Walk Leaders may refuse to take people who are not properly equipped or prepared. Walk Leaders will decide on whether a walk can proceed or be curtailed in the event of adverse weather. Note many of the walks may have stiles.
  • Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Dogs may be brought on most walks at the discretion of the Walk Leader unless stated otherwise in the programme. You must keep your dog on a lead at all times and ensure that it does not get in the way of other walkers.
  • Start times given are for the start of the walk or the time the bus leaves, whichever is appropriate. It is not possible to wait for late arrivals.
  • No liability will be accepted for loss or injury that occurs as a result of taking part in any Walk or Event.
  • Please ensure you are ready to start walking at the stated time.
